His journey began at a young age as a therapy for the stresses of a chaotic early life and swiftly evolved into a life long passion. Eli’s love for the drums would lead him to join a band and start performing and recording from just 15yrs of age. Taking a leap of faith to leave high school early to pursue a Diploma of Music was the catalyst for a fully fledged career in the music industry from age 17 onward.

After graduating, Eli began work as a touring & recording drummer and his playing has landed him in many of Australia's most iconic venues & festivals (The Sydney Opera House, Soundwave Festival, WOMADelaide) as well as numerous TV performances, Radio Features, ARIA Chart placements and Music Awards & Nominations as well as a recent induction into the SA Music Hall of Fame for his work with The Mark of Cain.

Forever a student of this amazing instrument, Eli has travelled flown across the globe to learn from international drumming legends, Benny Greb, Chris Coleman (Prince, Chaka Khan), Dave Elitch (The Mars Volta, Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake), Jeff Friedl (DEVO, A Perfect Circle), Daniel Glass (Liza Minnelli & Royal Crown Revue) and Billy Rymer (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Ho99o9). It is this approach to constant learning that allows Eli to relate to his students’ learning processes, have patience and unending encouragement.

Kyle is an exciting up and coming touring & session drummer who has been wowing audiences from an incredibly young age! He is our newest member of The Backbeat Academy family and is now available for lessons!

Kyle’s interest in the drums began at the young age of 2, banging along on his parent’s pots and pans to Blink 182 & Green Day. At the age of 3, Kyle’s parents realised that he had a true passion for the drums and bought him a drum kit to experiment with. Just a few years later at age 6, Kyle was featured on Nova 91.9 FM with a live on-air performance as “Adelaide’s Drummer Boy” to an audience of thousands. Kyle also featured on the A Current Affair TV Show as part of a segment focussing on ‘people who made Adelaide a better place’ - not just for his musical prowess, but also his performances entertaining the elderly in residential care homes. Not to stop there, Kyle was also a part of The Project on Channel 10 prior to performing live with iconic Australia rock band The Screaming Jets.

His talent and passion for drums took the liking of one of the world’s biggest drum ambassadors - Dom Famularo. He praised Kyle on his open-handed drumming style and told him to never change! As a result, Kyle continues to push the boundaries of less conventional playing styles and explore options outside of the one-size-fits-all approach of days gone by.

Currently, Kyle currently is a session artist and also performs with his bands; The Lizards and Don’t Bring Stacey. His work with these acts has garnered attention from National Youth Broadcaster, Triple J among others. To date, Kyle & his projects have shared the stage with well known National & International acts such as Suicidal Tendencies, Millencolin, Pennywise, Death by Denim, The Dead Love, Yours Truly, Teenage Joans, Pinkish Blu + more. Kyle is also known for his fill in work for legendary punk band Frenzal Rhomb as their drummer for a number of shows around Australia.

As all great drummers, Kyle is still very much student of our craft, and is deep into his Bachelor of Jazz from the The University of Adelaide. His plans for the future are to work his way up in the music world to perform worldwide and work with major artists; sharing his love and knowledge for drums with people all over the world, and teach the new generation of drummers that as long as you push yourself and never give up, you can achieve your dreams.

We are proud to welcome Kyle into our family!
